Innovation Management
We help our clients succeed with innovation
Our clients succeed because our processes deliver tangible results. To do this, we seek to fully understand organisational requirements, and get buy in from a range of key stakeholders. We then combine creative thinking with technical acumen to explore the boundaries of innovation before evolving the most attractive solutions.
Where does innovation start? Where does innovation end?
From our experience, innovation does not have a start or an end point. Sometimes organisations are lucky and innovation happily bubbles away; but for most, it has to be proactively and continuously managed, taking into account the past, the present and the distant future.
Our processes have been developed to support our clients’ innovation needs, at various levels, from strategic planning through to product specific breakthroughs:
- Visioning is used to identify the best strategic direction for a company. It involves painting a vivid picture of three distinctly different futures to stimulate the creation of a representative set of futuristic concepts for distillation into a common vision
- Research Portfolio Creation (RPC) is used to identify the best portfolio of research and/or development projects, each of which plays a role within an innovation roadmap, to enable our clients to meet their strategic ambitions
- Structured Idea Management (SIM) is used to create radical product concepts which are fully supported across the organisation
- Optimised-for-innovation QFD is used to create system concepts when complex interactions need to be understood and the best trade-offs selected
We understand different industries
Although the principles of effective innovation are transferable, we recognise there are important differences between industries and adjust our processes accordingly.
We are able to hand pick our teams to suit our clients’ business, by drawing on expertise from across Cambridge Consultants with directly relevant knowledge and experience as well as those with experiences from other industries, to stimulate the transfer of useful principles and approaches which often lead to breakthrough innovations.
For over 20 years, our processes have been applied across a wide range of industries including FMCG, Domestic Appliances, Healthcare, and Wireless.
