In the next few years, a number of familiar dry-powder inhaler (DPI) devices will reach the end of their patent lives. Pharma and Generics companies are seeking new opportunities to re-position their products in this market, focusing on demonstrating equivalence at a lower price-point. Cambridge Consultants has developed a platform dry powder inhaler technology, Gen-X, to address these needs in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma markets. The proprietary Gen-X device platform offers an opportunity to shorten the development time for new generic multi-dose DPI.

Gen-X uses a simple airway to match the dose performance of existing devices, incorporating a 60-dose ring and user interface to provide a familiar yet unique appearance. In volume production, this 9-part, 4-user step device is estimated to cost less than $2.

Cambridge Consultants is offering to licence the Gen-X platform for developing new DPI products.
