Medical Technologies

The incorporation of cutting edge engineering and advanced technologies lie at the heart of many leading healthcare products and help to keep our clients ahead of their competition. Our IP portfolio provides innovation opportunities and potentially unique product features that may be used to expand your product portfolio:

Drug Delivery

Gen-X - multi-dose DPI
A 60-dose dry powder inhaler (DPI) technology platform based on Cambridge Consultants’ extensive DPI know-how and designed to be manufactured in high volume using standard molding and drug-filling technology.  Gen-X incorporates moisture protection, dose counting and key safety features together with inspiring industrial design to create a world-class inhaler platform for your drug formulation.

Conix TM - High FPF DPI
A high performance yet simple breath-powered de-agglomeration engine, capable of Fine Particle Fractions (FPF) >70% for carrier based, and >60% for pure formulations, and emitted doses in excess of 95%. Cambridge Consultants knowledge of airflow phenomena and powder de-agglomeration has been combined in this new platform that may be applied to many device formats, ranging from multi-dose DPI’s to single use disposable devices, without the need for complex and costly mechanisms such as breath actuation.

Reverse-action MDI
Our novel MDI achieves breath actuation, along with dose counting, in a fraction of the parts count of other devices. Cambridge Consultants engineers have created a device with all the functionality of current high end products and maintaining primary drug containment, and a design that reduces manufacturing costs through reduced part count and assembly efficiencies.

QA - Particle sizing
A portable instrument which aims to revolutionise the way inhalation devices are tested. Based on Bayesian inference modeling, Cambridge Consultants scientists have developed a new device which offers the opportunity to match the performance of current laboratory laser-diffraction instruments in a small and highly portable product.

Medical Diagnostics

Electronic noses
Electronic noses are considered mature by some but their use to-date has been limited. Cambridge Consultants has patented the use of an advanced signal processing technique, Bayesian Inference, in conjunction with electronic noses as a means of improving the sensitivity and specificity of a single sensor or an array of sensors. This gain in performance potentially revolutionises the use of electronic noses opening up an number of opportunities previously not considered.

Multi wavelength detection module
We have designed and patented a revolutionary multi spectral photometric and fluorometric measurement system to enable the next generation of IVD platforms. With a low cost of goods and a high dynamic range this system can make multi-spectral photometric and fluorometric measurements at a single station in an analyser, replacing several optical measurement stations seen in traditional analysers. This compact module can help increase throughput, reduce cost or increase the breadth of menus on your analyser.
