CCL offers advanced, flexible implementations of DECT

Cambridge Consultants Limited (CCL) has developed a new DECT software stack that supports advanced functionality.

Most existing DECT products are voice telephony-only products, unsuited to data, multimedia or wireless local loop (WLL) applications. Integrated voice and data capable products will require new approaches to software design, such as CCL's new DECT data stack.

CCL has developed a unique, STREAMs-based DECT stack that gives much more flexibility than current software. CCL's core protocol architecture for GAP-compliant voice circuits is readily extensible and scaleable to support new features and services, such as those that will be demanded by the new DECT profiles for data, ISDN, GSM and WLL.

The opportunities for developing advanced systems using the new STREAMS-based DECT stack are wide-ranging. Sophisticated, DECT-based WLL communications products could offer exceptionally cheap phone and data services for the home, and businesses could benefit from wireless Intranets operating at ISDN capacity.

CCL's new DECT stack is also ideal for developing new pedestrian DECT mobile phones, taking cheap cordless telephony out of the home and into urban environments.

Supporting the advances in software design are CCL's skills in key communication technologies. CCL's successful XAP 16-bit microprocessor, designed specifically for embedded use in ASICs, is particularly suitable for systems such as DECT. CCL also has extensive experience in designing RF architectures, that could enable cost-effective solutions for dual-mode and dual-band personal communicators.

CCL offers a full spectrum of system and product development services including: fast track software development, industrial design and styling, and user interface design, simulation and implementation. CCL is expert at concurrent engineering, rapid prototyping and creating manufacturing solutions within very tight timeframes.

CCL is now seeking partners who are interested in capitalising on these technologies, to develop truly innovative DECT products.
