Cambridge Science Park selected by Arthur D. Little as European Centre for Technology and Innovation Management

ADL and Cambridge Consultants Limited develop a Cambridge-based campus that strengthens services throughout Europe

Global consulting firm Arthur D. Little has announced that its European Technology and Innovation Management (EuroTIM) services will in future be co-ordinated, managed and implemented from ADL's Cambridge Campus on the Cambridge Science Park. Other European sites will continue to grow in proportion to their strategic importance.

The decision to focus new growth of ADL's EuroTIM Practice and manage the administration of pan-European practice from Cambridge reflects the growing importance that ADL attaches to the range of services gathered on its Campus at the Cambridge Science Park.

"ADL's Technology and Innovation Management businesses are enjoying remarkable success across Europe. We are recruiting aggressively to take advantage of the opportunity for growth that has been provided by our success. To focus this growth on Cambridge, one of the most advanced centres for technology in Europe, is a great decision. In conjunction with the development of the Cambridge Campus, it will enable us to raise our services to new levels", said Dr Steve Bone, leader of ADL's EuroTIM practice. Comprising a unique combination of comprehensive services offered by ADL and its European technology arm, Cambridge Consultants Limited (CCL), the Campus offers integrated and focused services that help clients to innovate through the generation, application and management of technology. It also provides a rich environment for business creation, incubation and the generation of spin-offs, such as Cambridge Silicon Radio, which spun out of CCL in 1999. More CCL spin-offs will be announced in 2000.

Areas of particular focus on the Campus include environmental, safety and risk management (E&R), operations management (OM) and technology and innovation management (TIM), all of which are integrated with CCL's product development and technology based consulting services. All services offered through the Cambridge Campus will continue to be core components of ADL's management consulting business.

However, the Campus enables both ADL and CCL to offer services that go far beyond traditional management consulting. Clients are able to work with management consultants who understand and have credibility in technology, and to benefit from technologists that can work with management consultants, thus enabling real change to be implemented.

While companies are benefiting from working in partnership with CCL, using it as a virtual design and development resource, they work with a global consulting firm that has expertise in management and application of intellectual property and technical knowledge.

About the announcement Howard Biddle, CCL's Managing Director, said "I'm delighted that the Cambridge Campus is to be the focus of ADL's technology interests for Europe. Such a close integration of a broad range of technology related services means that both CCL's technology development services and ADL's consulting practices can accommodate clients' needs with a far greater flexibility than can our competitors. It's a perfect illustration of how the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts."
